Today, Monday, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him, gave his high instructions for the opening of the Mohammed VI University Hospital in Agadir, in a royal step that reflects the special care that His Majesty gives to bringing health services closer to citizens, and promoting the medical sector in various regions of the Kingdom.
This new center is a medical hub of excellence at the Souss-Massa level, and a major lever for developing hospital infrastructure, enhancing the quality of treatments, and training medical staff, in harmony with the royal vision aimed at reforming the national health system and achieving regional justice in access to care services. The Mohammed VI University Hospital in Agadir was built on an area exceeding 30 hectares, of which 127,000 square meters are covered, with investments estimated at 3.1 billion dirhams, with a capacity of 867 beds. It includes a number of specialized medical poles, including the mother and child pole, the medicine and surgery pole, the cardiology, radiology, and emergency pole, in addition to an integrated wing for severe burns, modern laboratories, and a fully automated central pharmacy. This medical edifice represents a true symbol of modernization, as it is the first medical institution in Africa to adopt robotic surgery technology, which allows for precise, minimally invasive interventions, giving both the surgeon and the patient the highest degrees of comfort and accuracy in performance. The center also includes an advanced center for complete sterilization, and digital spaces for training and simulation, allowing for practical training for doctors and students of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Agadir. The university center in Agadir provides medical services to international standards, through two advanced catheterization rooms and advanced monitoring units for heart and artery diseases, in addition to high-tech medical equipment that allows for precise interventions in the fields of blood vessels, medical imaging, and electrophysiological exploration. This royal project will contribute to easing the pressure on major hospitals in other cities, and enabling more than three million citizens to access advanced health services without the need to travel, as well as creating thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities, and enhancing the economic and social dynamics in the Souss-Massa region. The opening of the Mohammed VI University Hospital in Agadir embodies the keenness of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to establish a modern and equitable health system, based on proximity, quality, and specialized training, and enhances Morocco's position as a leading medical destination at the regional and African levels.
