A recent report revealed that the singlehood rate among females aged 15 and over in Morocco has reached 27.3 percent, which is nearly a third of women.
The report by the High Commission for Planning, titled "Moroccan Women in Numbers 2025," showed that 27.3 percent of females aged 15 and over are single.
The same report stated that 4.6 percent of females aged 15 and over are divorced, and 9.4 percent are widowed.
According to the data in the report, the singlehood figures for this age group decreased compared to 2004, when the percentage reached 34 percent.
In contrast to the decrease in the singlehood rate, the divorce rate increased from 3.1 percent in 2004 to 4.6 percent during 2024, according to the same report.
According to the High Commission for Planning's report, titled "Moroccan Women in Numbers 2025," the singlehood rate among women at age 50 increased from 5.3 percent in 2004 to 12.4 percent during 2024.
Furthermore, the same report showed that this percentage increased from 6.8 percent for women in the urban world in 2004 to 13.1 percent during the past year.
Based on what was stated in the same source, the number differs in the rural area, as the percentage of single women at the age of 50 during 2004 was 3.1 percent, before increasing to 11.1 percent during 2024.
The situation did not differ for males, as the report showed a transition in the singlehood rate for males from 4.9 percent in 2004 to 9.7 percent during 2024.
According to the same report, the rate of single males in urban areas increased from 5.9 percent in 2004 to 10.8 percent in 2024.
As for the rural environment, the number increased, according to the High Commission for Planning's report, from 3.2 percent in 2004 to 7.7 percent during the past year 2024.
