Rodrigo Rodriguez Hans, Vice President of the "Prodetur" Foundation of the Seville region, affirmed that Andalusia and Morocco share a common strategic vision in the areas of sustainable development and energy transition, opening promising prospects for increased cooperation in the fields of clean energy, green hydrogen, and natural resource management.
In a statement to the Moroccan News Agency, Rodriguez Hans explained that geographical proximity and resource integration make Morocco a natural partner for Andalusia within the framework of energy transition and Euro-Mediterranean cooperation. He added that Morocco and Spain share goals based on the principles of sustainability, innovation, and energy efficiency, highlighting that this convergence "opens important prospects for our technological and environmental companies." The Andalusian official pointed to the active role played by the Seville region in promoting cooperation between institutions, emphasizing that the entrepreneurial fabric in Seville "is ready to engage more in joint projects with Morocco, especially in the solar energy and green hydrogen sectors." He shed light on the energy dynamics in the region, explaining that 90.6 percent of the installed electrical capacity in Seville currently comes from renewable sources, representing about a quarter of the total production in Andalusia. Rodriguez Hans said that "Seville is today the most advanced region in Andalusia in terms of energy transition, thanks to pioneering projects such as the green hydrogen plant in the port of Seville, the solar thermal station of Heineken, and the (HGreen La Isla) plant in the municipality of Dos Hermanas." He confirmed that these initiatives constitute not only an essential economic lever but also a model of sustainable development that contributes to strengthening social stability and creating qualified job opportunities. The Vice President of "Prodetur" stressed the importance of strengthening the exchange of expertise between the two sides of the Mediterranean, reminding that energy cooperation between the two countries reflects a common ambition to make the region a reference pole for ecological transition and green growth.
