The season of the Algerian star Youcef Belaili ended early after detailed medical tests revealed that he had suffered a torn cruciate ligament in his knee.
Based on that, Belaili will be absent from the stadiums for a period ranging between 6 and 9 months, which means his absence from all upcoming international events with the Algerian national team, including the Arab Cup, and the African Cup of Nations. This news is a big shock to the Esperance club and its fans, given the great importance that Belaili represents in the team's ambitions to compete for titles this season. The initial estimates had indicated a partial injury to the cruciate ligament, which would have been limited to a rest period not exceeding ten weeks, before additional tests confirmed the true extent of the injury and ended his current season. The Esperance club is expected to issue an official statement in the coming hours clarifying the player's absence period and his treatment plan.
