HIBAPRESS – Rabat
As part of the discussion of projects to develop the legal profession, Abdellatif Wahbi, the Minister of Justice, revealed during a session of the Legislation and Justice Committee in Parliament, a plan to establish a specialized institute for training lawyers in Morocco.
The Minister explained that the institute will be subject to a number of strict conditions to ensure the quality of the profession, where the number of annual trainees will be set at a maximum of 150 people. Wahbi pointed to another essential condition related to acceptance in the final exams, which is that the applicant holds a master's degree, and that his answer is translated into two foreign languages, to ensure that the lawyer has the necessary language skills to perform his duties efficiently. The Minister stressed that the goal of these measures is to raise the level of professional qualification, and to ensure that new lawyers are able to practice the profession effectively, especially in light of the challenges facing the legal sector in Morocco today.
