The Moroccan Association of Prefectural and Provincial Council Presidents and the Association of French Regions signed a cooperation agreement that includes defining areas of joint work and facilitating the establishment of partnerships between Moroccan and French councils to implement joint projects to serve the interests of the population.
This came after the participation of the Moroccan Association of Prefectural and Provincial Council Presidents in a forum organized by its French counterpart on the occasion of its general meeting between November 12 and 14 in the French city of Albi, in which a delegation from the Moroccan Association participated, headed by its president, and with the presence of members of its executive office, at the official invitation of the French side. This meeting, according to a statement by the Moroccan Association of Prefectural and Provincial Council Presidents, comes within the framework of bilateral cooperation relations, which began with the visit of the president of the Association of French Regions, at the head of an important delegation last June to Morocco, and included the cities of Rabat, Sale, Skhirat-Temara and Tangier, where the development of partnership and cooperation relations between the two sides was studied within the framework of their competencies, as well as a visit to a number of social facilities. The same source added that the members of the Moroccan delegation attended the work of a number of workshops included in the forum program on topics such as "Digitalization and the Territorial Field.. Towards Real Access Justice", "Roadways and Mobility.. Challenges and Opportunities for Territorial Fields", "Employment and Integration.. Any New Models for Cooperation", "Regional Properties.. Management, Improvement, and Enhancement", and "Independence and Aging.. A Central Issue for Territorial Fields". On this occasion, the source continues, an official invitation was extended to the French Association to hold the next meeting in the city of Dakhla, where it will be an opportunity to inform the French side of the development dynamics that the southern provinces of the Kingdom are experiencing. On the other hand, the council presidents, members of the Moroccan delegation, had bilateral meetings with their counterparts from the French regions, "where the French side was introduced to the goals of the Association, as well as the development of the decentralization experience and the field of local democracy in the Kingdom since independence until the 2011 constitution, which was established by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, as well as the issuance of the organizational laws of 2015". They also studied, according to the statement, ways to establish cooperation relations to exchange experiences in fields of common interest according to the competencies assigned to these territorial levels.
