HIBAPRESS – Mohammed Zariouh
The National Police in occupied Melilla managed to arrest nine adult Moroccan citizens on charges of forgery and impersonating unaccompanied foreign minors (MENA), with the aim of benefiting from social protection and obtaining documents to facilitate their entry into the Schengen area.
According to a spokesman for the High Command of the Police in occupied Melilla, the suspects approached the asylum office demanding to obtain the status of unaccompanied minors, accompanying their requests with forged documents showing that they had reached the age of minority. It was later revealed through investigations that these documents were forged, which led to their arrest by elements of the UCRIF unit specializing in combating forgery and irregular immigration. Security sources added that the aim of this operation was to obtain documents that would enable them to move freely within the Schengen area, either as asylum seekers or as former minors under guardianship, after forging their personal data. The police sources mentioned that the UCRIF unit is one of the specialized agencies in combating irregular immigration and human trafficking, as it conducts investigations and coordinates efforts with international and local security agencies, in addition to conducting awareness campaigns to address these criminal activities. The judicial authorities have been informed of the facts, and the case is being investigated in accordance with local and international laws.
