HIBAPRESS – Barcelona: Omar Razzini
Security authorities in "Barcelona", Catalonia, have arrested seven individuals suspected of being involved in a network specializing in forging official documents to facilitate residency permit applications for irregular immigrants.
According to security sources, the network members were forging residency certificates and "parajes de hecho" files professionally, in exchange for sums of money reaching up to 15,000 euros per person. The investigations, led by the local police, revealed that the network was active in several cities including Barcelona, Badalona and Castelldefels, where simultaneous raids were carried out, resulting in the seizure of equipment and materials used in forgery. Security services are continuing their investigations to determine the number of beneficiaries of these forged documents, as well as to monitor any potential extensions of the network inside and outside the region. This operation comes within the framework of ongoing efforts to combat irregular immigration and address fraud operations that exploit the situations of immigrants in exchange for large sums of money.
