HIBAPRESS – Rabat
The head of the National Rally of Independents group in the House of Representatives, Mohamed Chouky, attacked the head of the Justice and Development parliamentary group, Abdellah Bouanou, regarding conflicts of interest in pharmaceutical deals at the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, considering his claims inaccurate, and their danger lies not only in their political content, but also in their negative impact on the credibility of institutions and the integrity of legal procedures.
The speaker noted during a meeting of the Social Sectors Committee in the House of Representatives, today, Wednesday, regarding the discussion about the purchase of medicines, that it is a shame to take the podium of the House of Representatives and launch accusations without evidence against the ministers, knowing that the laws are clear and the jurisdictions are defined, and no one is above the procedures. He continued that his team had carried out a precise monitoring of all tenders for medicines since January 2023, the number of which exceeded 53 tenders issued by the Directorate of Medicines and University and Regional Hospital Centers, explaining that one company obtained most of the orders because it was the only one available with the required technical conditions, while a second company won only two orders during the first phase of the study. He stressed that the contributing company is legally independent of its shareholders, and it is managed through the board of directors, while the role of the general assembly of shareholders remains limited to major strategic decisions such as approving accounts or changing members of the council, warning that it is absolutely unacceptable to descend to the level of infringing on the honor of ministers and political action, through accusations that cannot constitute alternatives.
