Next Monday, the Academy of Hassan II of Sciences and Technology will organize a scientific meeting at its headquarters on the topic "Systems Theory Network… A day to present the results".
The Academy highlighted in a statement that this meeting aims to present the scientific results of 45 years of scientific activity in the field of systems theory, led by several Moroccan research teams that contributed to the dissemination of national scientific research worldwide, benefiting from the support of the Academy of Hassan II of Sciences and Technology through two agreements since 2006-2007. The same source explained that the 1970s witnessed the establishment of the first degree in applied mathematics in Morocco, followed by the establishment of a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CEA) in systems theory, noting that this new training offer immediately attracted a large number of students in the degree and then in the Certificate of Advanced Studies. Thanks to this initiative, many researchers in systems theory discussed their theses and were able to access positions as research professors in Morocco and abroad. These contributed to the structuring and expansion of research in this field, enabling them to establish about ten research units in various regions of the country. The scientific radiance of these groups attracted prominent foreign figures and later led to the integration of international research laboratories and the establishment of an expanding Moroccan network. With the establishment of the Academy of Hassan II of Sciences and Technology on May 18, 2006, by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, a first agreement came, then a second in 2016 to strengthen this network and institutionalize it. The Academy highlighted that after forty-five years since the birth of this experience, the results honor Moroccan scientific research and its international radiance. Today, this network represents about ten laboratories and more than a hundred researchers, and their achievements are reflected in prominent figures, as follows: 443 doctorates have been trained, the majority of whom are research professors or researchers, and 73 books or published works, 2100 scientific publications, and 111 organized conferences. The same source recorded an active presence of researchers who were trained in this field in 21 countries in Africa, Europe, Asia, and America. On the occasion of this 45th anniversary, the Academy stressed that "this collective path embodies the pioneering vision of the founders, the continuity of the training and research efforts, as well as the decisive contribution of the Moroccan school in applied mathematics and systems theory in the national and international scientific scene". Today, a number of Moroccan university professors are giving lessons in systems theory around the world. For example, researchers from Tangier recently gave lectures in Cotonou as part of a master's degree associated with a UNESCO chair led by the president of the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC), Norber Honkonu.
