The International Federation of Football "FIFA" announced today, Tuesday, the levels of the national teams in the draw for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, December 5th in Washington, D.C.
The International Federation stated in a statement: "With less than 200 days until the start of the first edition of the FIFA World Cup tournament featuring 48 national teams, the procedures for determining the identity of the four teams that will compete in each of the 12 groups have been announced."
The draw procedures stipulate placing the host countries' national teams (Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America) in Pot 1, while the remaining 39 qualified teams will be distributed in four pots according to the FIFA Men's World Ranking issued on November 19, 2025.
As for the two balls allocated to the teams that will qualify through the global play-off competitions and the four balls allocated to the teams that will qualify through the European play-off competitions for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, they will be in Pot 4.
Pot 1: Canada, Mexico, United States of America, Spain, Argentina, France, England, Brazil, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, GermanyPot 2: Croatia, Morocco, Colombia, Uruguay, Switzerland, Japan, Senegal, Islamic Republic of Iran, Republic of Korea, Ecuador, Austria, AustraliaPot 3: Norway, Panama, Egypt, Algeria, Scotland, Paraguay, Tunisia, Ivory Coast, Uzbekistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South AfricaPot 4: Jordan, Cape Verde, Ghana, Curaçao, Haiti, New Zealand, the four teams (A, B, C, D) qualifying from the European play-off, the two teams (A, B) qualifying from the global play-off.The draw ceremony will begin by drawing the teams from Pot 1 into groups one through twelve, and then the drawing of the teams will be completed in order from Pots 2, 3, and 4.
