HIBAPRESS – Rabat
Social media platforms have been circulating in recent hours a leaked audio recording of Hicham Gerando, in which he admits to deleting a video he had published against a woman, in exchange for obtaining real estate for his wife in the city of Fez.
The exciting recording, which spread rapidly, reveals the practices that Gerando has been involved in for years, related to digital extortion and the exploitation of privacy to achieve financial and real estate gains. The leak confirms what separate judicial files in Morocco and Canada have previously shown, where documents and testimonies document Gerando's method of targeting people by publishing videos or offensive rumors, then demanding financial sums or properties in exchange for deleting them. This recording is additional evidence of the organized extortion methodology he adopted. Accompanying these recordings were widespread calls to share the leak on social media platforms, as conclusive evidence that Gerando does not work in any human rights or political activity as he tries to present himself, but rather focuses on exploiting victims to obtain properties and real estate for his wife or his own money.
