The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amin Tahraoui, inaugurated today, Saturday, in Dakhla, the headquarters of the African Academy of Health Sciences (AAHS), the first structure to be completed within the Mohammed VI International University Hospital Complex in Dakhla (CHUIM6) project, which is expected to become one of the most important hubs for training and medical innovation in Africa.

The center, which is fully equipped, has a capacity of 600 seats and is dedicated to hosting conferences and scientific meetings for health professionals and experts.

In a statement to the Moroccan News Agency, Professor Jaafar Haikel, in charge of a mission at the Mohammed VI Foundation for Health Sciences, affirmed that the new academy constitutes a "strategic lever" to enhance health sovereignty at the continental level, in line with the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

He explained that this structure will unify African competencies around the major issues related to health systems, by focusing on the various components of health sovereignty, whether it is primary care, prevention, infrastructure, scientific research, or the training of future generations of professionals.

Professor Haikel added that this academy, equipped with the latest technical means and linked to the Mohammed VI International Conference Center, will provide a platform for thinking and consultation between scientific bodies at the continental level.

The inauguration of this structure comes in the context of the general progress of the works of the Mohammed VI International University Hospital Complex in Dakhla (CHUIM6) project, which includes medical, university, residential, and sports structures distributed across several hubs.

In reality, the pace of completion of these structures is making remarkable progress. The Mohammed VI Faculty of Medicine has reached 60% of the progress of its works, the Mohammed VI Higher School of Health Sciences Engineers (90%), and the Mohammed VI Faculty of Nursing Sciences and Health Professions (75%), while the Mohammed VI International Simulation Center in Health Sciences has reached (60%).
