HIBAPRESS – Rabat
The House of Representatives held a general session this Tuesday morning, dedicated to studying and voting on ready legislative texts.
During this session, the Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Wahbi, confirmed that "those medical experts on traffic accidents have driven me crazy," explaining that the accumulated problems in medical expertise used in traffic accident files were among the main reasons that led the government to introduce fundamental reforms to the medical evaluation system for victims. Wahbi explained that the confusion registered in medical expertise directly reflects on the value of compensation and creates disparity between files, which harms the rights of victims and affects citizens' confidence in the litigation process. He highlighted that this situation pushed the ministry to include in the new project the principle of joint medical expertise, as a mechanism that aims to unify the bases of expertise and ensure the adoption of a neutral and objective evaluation that reduces the large differences that appeared in previous reports. The Minister confirmed that the adoption of joint medical expertise will help establish a fairer system in determining disability rates and estimating damages, while enhancing credibility and transparency within this crucial process in traffic accident files.
