HIBAPRESS – Safi
The Safi Surf Invitational event returned in its second edition in the city of Safi in a more powerful and distinguished format, after the great success achieved by the first edition.
This event is organized by the Bahri Association under the supervision of the Royal Moroccan Surfing and Bodyboarding Federation, in partnership with the OCP Group. The Moroccan National Tourist Office decided to support this edition after the wide international resonance it achieved with the participation of dozens of international athletes. The Ras El Afra area, classified among the best surfing beaches in the world, will host the competitions between December 5 and 7, 2025. The new edition will see the participation of 80 of the most prominent surfing and bodyboarding professionals from 16 nationalities across the five continents, where the competitors will experience a unique experience that combines surfing day and night thanks to advanced lighting equipment, in addition to organizing social and environmental activities open to the public. The event aims to give participants and the audience a complete experience that goes beyond the sporting aspect towards celebrating the sea, the environment, and the spirit of participation. The festival is not limited to the sporting aspect only, but transforms Safi into a vibrant cultural and artistic space, through a beach village that includes local exhibitors and cooperatives for traditional industries, street art workshops, musical performances, and guided tours of historical landmarks. The program also includes solidarity initiatives such as free surfing lessons for children in social care homes, and a large beach cleaning campaign. Saad Obeid, the founder of the Bahri Association, confirmed that the ambition is to make the event a platform to celebrate sports, consolidate the values of solidarity and respect for the environment, and enhance Safi's position as a global surfing destination. This initiative seeks to connect the younger generations with professionals and encourage the development of surfing and bodyboarding sports in Morocco, while highlighting the tourism and natural potential of the city of Safi. It is also expected that this edition will contribute to enhancing local dynamism and supporting tourism and environmental movement in the region, and consolidating Safi's position as a city that combines creativity, celebration, and sports.
