HIBAPRESS – Errachidia

Yesterday morning, Errachidia presented a clear picture of the government's approach to addressing regional disparities, during the tenth stop of the "Path of Achievements" meetings, where the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, presented the most prominent structural projects in the Draa-Tafilalt region. The main message conveyed in his speech was clear: no development without regional equity, and no area can be left outside the path of progress.

Akhannouch affirmed that the Draa-Tafilalt region, despite its rich natural and economic potentials, still suffers from developmental gaps that require comprehensive and continuous intervention. He explained that the government has intensified work in various essential sectors in recent years with the aim of improving the living standards of the population and strengthening service infrastructure, especially in the health, educational, and rural infrastructure sectors.

In the health sector, the Head of Government presented a map of major projects that would bring about a qualitative shift in the region's health services, most notably the establishment of a university hospital by 2027, in addition to the near opening of the regional hospital in Rissani in April 2026.

The projects also include the construction of two new hospitals in Ouarzazate, the opening of Tinghir Hospital, which has already begun receiving patients, as well as the construction of another hospital in Boumalne Dades with the expansion of the regional hospital, which will be completed in 2027. In Midelt, the regional hospital will be delivered after its rehabilitation in 2026, in addition to the rehabilitation of nearly one hundred proximity health centers, of which more than eighty are ready.

In terms of education, Akhannouch pointed out that the region today includes 428 leading schools that adopt various methods of pedagogical modernization, stressing that work is progressing at an advanced pace in the "City of Professions and Skills" project, which will open its doors next year, which will contribute to strengthening the qualification of young people and strengthening the attractiveness of the region.

The project to break isolation is included within the strategic development axes, as the government announced the completion of 1,645 kilometers of roads and tracks within the framework of the program to reduce regional and social disparities, which will improve the connection between villages and cities and enhance access to essential services.

In the tourism sector, the Head of Government highlighted the multiple advantages offered by Draa-Tafilalt, whether in agriculture, minerals, renewable energies, or cinema, reminding that the government has worked to expand air links to the airports of Ouarzazate, Zagora and Errachidia by 14 percent to increase the number of incoming tourists. A program to valorize tourist villages has also been launched, including three national sites in the region, most notably the Ksar of Ait Benhaddou and the village of Asoul, with the aim of promoting rural tourism and creating new job opportunities.

In the same context, the government allocated a program to rehabilitate closed hotels, where 11 hotels have been renovated, two of which have opened their doors, while an additional nine hotel units will be rehabilitated in 2026, which will contribute to restoring lost jobs and boosting the economic cycle of the sector. The Go Siyaha program is also an important lever for tourism investment, as the region benefits from ten projects that will receive direct investment support, in addition to 173 projects that receive technical support.

Akhannouch concluded his presentation by emphasizing that these projects are not just isolated sectoral interventions, but rather part of an integrated development vision aimed at creating new job opportunities and preserving the cultural privacy of the region, citing the project to rehabilitate the Kasbah of Ouled Abdelhalim in Beni Mohammed Sejilmassa and transform it into an authentic tourist facility that reflects the region's heritage identity and supports its local economy.
