HIBAPRESS – Rabat
The Somali Foreign Ministry categorically denied, on Friday, media reports claiming Somalia's support for the fictitious republic in the Moroccan Sahara issue, stressing that its official position is conveyed only through official statements and messages issued by it.
The ministry affirmed in its statement issued from Mogadishu that Somalia respects international resolutions, foremost among them Security Council Resolution 2797, and is working diligently to support the peaceful settlement process under the auspices of the United Nations.

Somalia called on all concerned parties to engage in direct and serious negotiations with the aim of reaching a peaceful and final solution that satisfies the peoples of the region and preserves their interests, with full support for the efforts of the United Nations Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy to relaunch the political process.
Somalia also renewed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Kingdom of Morocco, affirming mutual respect for national unity and the sovereignty of the Kingdom, within a partnership based on dialogue and trust.
