HIBAPRESS – Agadir
The administration of the university residence in Agadir issued an explanatory statement, a copy of which "HIBAPRESS" received, in which it presented accurate data on what was circulated on some electronic platforms regarding a sit-in by a group of students in front of the main gate of the institution, claiming they were deprived of housing during the current academic year.
The administration confirmed that what was published "does not reflect reality," explaining that the registration process this year was subject to a unified national agenda supervised by the National Office for University Social and Cultural Affairs, with the adoption of precise procedures based on criteria of social merit, information system data, in addition to documents proving income and academic score card. According to the same statement, the students who appeared in the circulated photos did not submit registration applications within the deadlines for the 2025-2026 academic year, which makes their non-acceptance a "legal and consistent with the organizing regulations." Comprehensive reform project since 2024 Regarding the capacity situation, the administration clarified that the university residence has been undergoing an extensive rehabilitation project since 2024, which includes buildings, health facilities, and living spaces, within the framework of a national project aimed at improving the living conditions of students. The institution has also begun to gradually close a number of facilities in preparation for entering new stages of reform that extend to the 2024-2025, 2025-2026, and 2026-2027 seasons, and these works, when completed, will contribute to raising the capacity and improving the quality of services. Commitment to improving living conditions The university residence administration stressed that the current capacity does not allow the addition of new beneficiaries outside the legal procedures, renewing its commitment to ensuring suitable conditions for registered students, and continuing to implement the comprehensive reform plan aimed at upgrading the social services provided.
