Student Hiba Yaemout shone and won the title of “Reader of the Year for the Best Text” after achieving first place in the tenth edition of the “Read” competition, hosted by the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, December 6, 2025, under the slogan: “The impact of reading does not disappear.”
The Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports explained that this edition witnessed strong competition between six distinguished readers from different Arab countries, including the student Hiba Yaemout, who is studying in the second year of the baccalaureate track at the Skhirat-Temara Regional Directorate. The “Read” competition represents one of the most prominent cultural initiatives in the Arab world, which was launched by the “Ithra” center in 2013 with the aim of promoting the culture of reading and developing cognitive skills among young people. The competition opens its doors to male and female students in primary, preparatory and secondary schools, in addition to university students in Arab countries. Participants go through several competitive stages, starting with presenting a book of their choice and recounting their reading experience, passing through multiple elimination stages, leading to the “Read” forum at the “Ithra” center, which includes training workshops and lectures under the supervision of a select group of intellectuals and experts. The competition concludes with a ceremony to honor the outstanding students. The closing ceremony was attended by a representative of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, at the invitation of the “Ithra” Foundation, one of the initiatives of the Saudi Aramco company, to celebrate the outstanding students in this distinctive cultural event.
