Algerian journalist Salim Essalhi attacked President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, describing him as crazy in strategy and international relations, and considered his policy "absolute stupidity."
In his statements, Essalhi questioned the usefulness of Tebboune's meeting with the President of Belarus, noting that the European country is not active regionally and has no pivotal role in the issues of the Moroccan Sahara, Palestine, or Libya. Essalhi added: "What is the relationship of Belarus to the Moroccan Sahara issue? And what does it have to do with the Palestinian or Libyan issue?" Essalhi pointed to the position of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which continues to support the autonomy plan as the sole solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue, stressing that any step to the contrary seems meaningless, and described the meeting between Tebboune and the President of Belarus as "a crazy step even for a first-year student." The journalist also quoted Algerian citizens making fun of Tebboune's policies, considering that Algeria has lost its regional position and has become a valueless state under the current president. They questioned the strategic partnership that Tebboune spoke of with the Gulf countries, pointing out that full Gulf support remains in favor of Morocco in the Sahara file. Essalhi concluded his analysis by saying that Tebboune's failure to establish any strategic relations has caused the Algerian state to lose its regional influence and lose all previous gains internationally.
