A state of sadness mixed with anger has overshadowed the city of Oujda, following a tragic incident that claimed the life of a traffic police officer affiliated with the Oujda Security Directorate on Saturday, after he was subjected to a fierce attack by a group of stray dogs near the "Lazari" neighborhood. The incident occurred while he was on his way home after a day of work in traffic and circulation service.
According to informed sources, a group of stray dogs surprised the policeman in the dead of night, where he sustained deep and serious injuries that necessitated his rapid transfer to the University Hospital in Oujda. Despite the urgent medical interventions, the severity of the injuries hastened his death.
This tragedy raises questions about the role of the Oujda Municipal Council and the competent veterinary services in managing the phenomenon of stray dogs, which has become "frighteningly" widespread in various neighborhoods of the city.
Local affairs observers believe that what happened is a direct result of "administrative negligence" and the sluggishness of efforts to contain these animals, which has turned the public space into a permanent danger zone that threatens the lives of passersby.
