A statement by a Kuwaiti analyst during his participation in the Al-Majlis program on Qatari Al-Kass channels sparked a wave of widespread criticism in Morocco, after he tried to diminish the value of the achievements of Moroccan football in recent years.
The Kuwaiti analyst's statements coincided with the Arab Football Championship, where he considered that what the Moroccan national team had achieved was just a passing fluke, which left deep resentment among Moroccan followers who saw his words as an unjustified insult to national football. The same analyst went further in his controversial statements when he touched on the Moroccan national team under 20 years old winning the World Cup in Chile, saying that this came because of what he described as falsifying the ages of some players. This claim, which represents its owner only, the Moroccan public considered it an attempt to provoke their feelings and cast doubt on a historical achievement that is widely appreciated all over the world, including within the State of Kuwait, whose people supported Morocco in a number of football competitions. After the clip spread on social media platforms, angry voices rose demanding that Al-Kass channel issue a formal apology for hosting statements described as offensive, and some called for disciplinary measures against the analyst in question, including removing him from the program. While the controversy continues, followers confirm that such statements increase the tension of the sports atmosphere and contradict the positive competitive spirit that is supposed to accompany the Arab championships.
