The Administrative Court of Appeal in Rabat annulled the minutes of the ordinary general assembly for the 2023/2024 sports season of the Royal Moroccan Karate Federation, held on February 22, 2025, with the cancellation of all legal consequences arising therefrom.
The decision reopened the debate about the legality of the current federation bodies, and the entity that will take over management until the election of a new president. The case goes back to the dispute that arose after the federation president's decision to dissolve three regional leagues in the south, which the heads of these leagues considered an arbitrary decision and an abuse of power, before the dispute deepened by holding the general assembly without summoning the leagues and relevant associations. The three leagues of Dakhla, Laayoune, and Guelmim welcomed the ruling and considered it a vindication after a year of follow-up and pleading in the courts, confirming that it revealed imbalances that marred the general assembly, including the exclusion of the leagues from participation. The leagues also expressed their appreciation for the role played by the parliamentarian and lawyer, Mohamed Sabari, both in mediation and in pleading the case before the administrative judiciary. With the issuance of the ruling, the future of the federation's management remains open to several possibilities pending the determination of the next organizational steps.
