The specialized chamber in money laundering cases at the Court of First Instance in Fez issued a ruling yesterday, Wednesday, December 10, against the president of the Moulay Yacoub Regional Council, after being pursued in a case related to the suspicion of possessing unjustified funds and properties.
According to informed sources, the court decided to sentence the person concerned to two years in suspended prison, in addition to the confiscation of all seized real estate belonging to him, within the limits of the ownership percentages related to the properties obtained after May 3, 2007. The ruling also included the confiscation of movable funds for the benefit of the Moroccan state, in addition to the seizure of his bank accounts and their transfer to the state treasury, within the framework of legal procedures aimed at combating money laundering and addressing any illegal practices that affect financial transparency.
