The file of the disappearance of Mehdi Ben Barka, the Moroccan opposition political leader, has returned to the forefront after the publication of a new book entitled "The Ben Barka Case: The End of Secrets," which presents an extensive investigation revealing unknown details about the case that sparked controversy for many years.
The book sheds light on the critical period that preceded Ben Barka's disappearance in Paris in 1965 and reviews the network of international and political relations involved in the case, including the French and Moroccan intelligence services and some international parties. It also presents new witnesses and archival files that have not been published before, giving the reader an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the events that led to the assassination or disappearance of this opposition leader. The author relies in his book on various sources, combining official documents, witness testimonies, and secret recordings, making it a new step in uncovering the circumstances surrounding this historical case. The book indicates that the disappearance of Ben Barka was not a mere accident, but part of complex political conflicts that affected Morocco, France, and Europe at that stage. The publication of the book has revived the discussion about the responsibilities of the various parties and raised questions about the extent of the full truth being revealed after decades of cover-up and ambiguity. Many consider this work to be an important attempt to reread historical events in a precise investigative manner, away from rumors and simplified interpretations.
