The Court of First Instance in Casablanca issued a court ruling ordering the compensation of the heirs of a man who died as a result of complications from a slip and fall accident inside a public bath in the city, with 140,000 dirhams.

The deceased had suffered a violent slip and fall inside the bathing hall of a public bath due to the accumulation of waste and adhesive materials on the floor that had not been cleaned regularly, which caused him multiple and serious fractures in the pelvis, requiring surgical interventions and continuous medical follow-up.

This accident resulted in the victim's total inability to work for six months before his death, leaving behind a damaged family and an open judicial file, as he had filed, before his death, a lawsuit demanding compensation for the physical and material damage that befell him, while the insurance company tried to defend the owner of the bath and claim that the accident was accidental.

The court ordered a comprehensive technical examination, which showed that the management of the bath had neglected to take the necessary preventive measures and maintain and clean the floor, making the place a danger to the safety of the frequenters, and decided, based on the expert's report, which held the owner of the bath responsible for not taking the necessary precautions.

Accordingly, the court ruled that the owner of the bath bears the responsibility for compensation in a joint manner, by paying an amount of 140,000 dirhams, which includes the recovery of the victim's treatment expenses, which amounted to 6,350 dirhams, in addition to compensation for temporary disability and the physical and moral damages that befell the victim before his death, as well as compensation for his heirs for the loss of their breadwinner.
