HIBAPRESS – Rabat
The debate surrounding the weekly working hours of primary school teachers has resurfaced, with a union calling for the standardization of their reduction to 18 hours, distributed over five days from Monday to Friday. This aligns with the legal organization in effect and utilizes previous pedagogical experiences that have proven their effectiveness.
This call is based on educational data indicating that adopting this time frame allows for the delivery of the contents of the curricula without compromising the quality of learning or the requirements of assessment, while improving the use of school time within educational institutions, especially with the adoption of flexible organizational models such as the triple schedule. On the other hand, the file raises constraints related to the shortage of human resources and the increase in demand for schooling, which makes any actual reduction in working hours contingent on strengthening the numbers of educational staff and providing the necessary financial allocations, at a time when the competent authorities continue to study ways to adapt curricula and programs with school time and improve the working conditions of teachers.
