HIBAPRESS – Follow-up
The local authorities in the province of Midelt, in close coordination with the concerned services, continue their comprehensive mobilization to address the effects of bad weather, within the framework of an approach aimed at anticipating and preventing risks.
In the Imilchil commune, which is mountainous and rugged, all preventive measures were taken immediately after the General Directorate of Meteorology announced the possibility of registering weather disturbances (heavy rainfall and/or snowfall). For this purpose, all the necessary human and logistical means were mobilized to alleviate the effects of this weather phenomenon, and the field teams were strengthened to ensure faster and more effective interventions. At the provincial level, the local authorities have taken a series of measures within the framework of a proactive approach, which included, in particular, the transfer of pregnant women and people with chronic diseases to maternity homes and health centers to ensure better care for them, as well as providing sufficient quantities of heating wood, food and blankets for the benefit of the targeted groups in the concerned communes. The efforts of the local authorities also concern the operations of providing assistance to people in difficult situations and their livestock, in addition to breaking the isolation of remote areas, within the framework of the action plans studied by the local vigilance committee, which meets regularly to coordinate, monitor and evaluate the interventions.
