HIBAPRESS
Today, Friday in Rabat, judicial offices were inaugurated in the stadiums hosting the African Cup of Nations football tournament, within the framework of preparations accompanying the Kingdom's hosting of continental sporting events.
A statement from the Ministry of Justice stated that the inauguration of these judicial offices in the stadiums concerned with hosting the matches, foremost of which is the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, falls within the framework of establishing a new institutional mechanism for managing cases that may be presented to the Public Prosecution regarding violations that may occur on the occasion of matches. The same source explained that this initiative aims to establish a modern and effective model for addressing issues within sports venues, by enabling representatives of the Public Prosecution, in coordination with the security services and the competent authorities, to intervene immediately to address any potential cases, ensuring speed in taking procedures, with full respect for the rights of individuals and guarantees of a fair trial, and maintaining order and security within the stadiums, and reducing pressure on the courts. In this context, the Minister of Justice, Abdelatif Wehbe, confirmed that this step reflects the state's will to make justice strongly and responsibly present within the largest sporting events. Mr. Wehbe pointed out that the establishment of these judicial offices in the stadiums hosting the African Cup reflects a clear vision that Morocco is able to combine high-quality sports entertainment and respect for the law. He said: "We want justice that is close to the citizen, quick in its decisions, but keen to guarantee rights and freedoms. This is a reform step as much as it is a message of reassurance to the public that the stadiums are spaces for enjoyment, safety, and responsibility." The statement concluded that this procedure reaffirms the Kingdom's commitment to establishing an advanced model in managing cases related to sports venues, which enhances confidence in institutions and establishes the image of Morocco as a country capable of organizing major events within the framework of respect for the law and international standards.
