Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to meet with US President Donald Trump later this month in Florida, amid growing Israeli concern about the expansion of Iran's ballistic missile program, which had been damaged as a result of Israeli military strikes last June.
Israeli and American officials revealed that Netanyahu will brief Trump on potential options for attacking Iran again, according to what the American network "NBC News" reported today, Saturday. Netanyahu is expected to seek to persuade the American president that this Iranian expansion poses an immediate threat that calls for urgent action, noting that Tehran's actions pose risks to Israel and the region, including American interests. Netanyahu is also expected to present options for the United States to cooperate with or support Israel in any potential military operations. However, former Israeli officials have indicated that Trump may be less enthusiastic about launching a new military action against Iran if disagreements continue between American and Israeli officials regarding Netanyahu's approach to the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. For its part, a White House spokeswoman confirmed that the American president had previously announced that any attempt by Iran to possess a nuclear weapon would be immediately targeted, according to NBC. These developments come at a time when tensions are also escalating between Washington and Caracas, with the continued possibility of resorting to the military option against Venezuela, after the United States launched strikes last June targeting nuclear facilities in Iran, while Israel targeted military sites and weapons and missile manufacturing centers.
