The French star Kylian Mbappé ended the year 2025 by writing a new page in the history books with Real Madrid, and with his goal against Sevilla, the young striker raised his tally of goals with the royal shirt to 59 goals during the current calendar year.
This achievement, which coincided with his birthday, enabled Mbappé to equal the legendary record registered in the name of the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo as the player with the most goals scored with the Royal Club in one year, a record that has stood since 2013.
Mbappé played 58 matches to reach this exceptional goal number, as his tally included scoring two goals in one match 11 times, and 3 goals (hat-trick) four times, in addition to scoring a super hat-trick (4 goals) on one occasion.
Mbappé scored 30 goals in the second half of last season to continue his brilliance in the current season, topping the list of top scorers in the Spanish League with 18 goals, and the list of top scorers in the Champions League with 9 goals, and with the addition of his two goals in the Spanish King's Cup, his score in the current season alone rises to 29 goals.
After the match, Mbappé (27 years old) expressed his overwhelming happiness, describing the day as exceptional as it coincided with his birthday, indicating that playing in the shirt of his dream club on this date was a dream that he had been dreaming of since childhood, and stressed that the priority was to ensure victory to end the year positively, considering breaking Cristiano Ronaldo's record amazing, especially since the Portuguese star represents his role model and the first historical reference for the club.
Mbappé sent a special greeting to Ronaldo, praising his constant advice to him regarding adapting in the Spanish capital.
Regarding the team's performance, Mbappé acknowledged the difficulties that Real Madrid faced in the recent rounds of the league, stressing the importance of returning to the winning streak before the winter break.
Mbappé's celebration of his historic goal was not without a touch of loyalty, as he chose to celebrate in the famous Cristiano Ronaldo style, dedicating the achievement to his friend, his role model, and the fans.
Mbappé received the first Golden Shoe award in his career on October 31st/last October for being the top scorer in the European continent last season with 31 goals in the Spanish League.
