Ahmad Chaqroun, a lawyer at the Casablanca Bar Association, denied that he had blackmailed the mother of streamer Elias El Malki, who is under investigation in a case related to insults and defamation against taxi drivers, confirming that he only requested his dues.
Chaqroun said in an interview with the "HIBAPRESS" newspaper that the circulating call, which concerns him and El Malki's mother, "is detached from its true context," adding that "the real context is that I did not ask for any sum of money."
He explained that the lady contacted the first deputy of the union that is suing El Malki, where she pleaded for a waiver, which was answered by the person concerned by agreeing, provided that "the lawyer's dues are paid."
Chaqroun emphasized the need to receive his dues, given that he submitted more than one hundred complaints, in addition to being appointed as a civil party in the ongoing case before the Primary Court of El Jadida.
He continued that the lady did not contact him to discuss the fees because this matter was discussed with another person named Hamza, who "informed her that I have 100 files, and each file is supposed to get 4,000 dirhams, in addition to another 100 files."
He added that he asked the lady to come to Casablanca and "everything will be fine, God willing, pay me my fees, and not necessarily 4,000 dirhams for each file," adding that the other person may have set the total amount at 80 million centimes.
He stressed that he asked her to bring his fees that he should collect, as long as the professional drivers would waive and their leaders also agreed to the waiver, "but on condition that I collect my fees," as he put it.
The lawyer considered that the circulating video was distorted from its context, and the truth is not as it is, according to him, explaining that he did not blackmail her, because "blackmail is an illegal act, or an illegal threat in order to obtain money, but I am a major party in the case, and I have about 100 complaints against the concerned."
In addition to that, Chaqroun confirmed that he is a lawyer and has performed his professional duties and defended this category of workers, whom he considered to be continuously "insulted" by El Malki, who aims, according to him, to increase viewership rates, pointing out that he did not ask for 80 million, but asked for his fees, and explained that he has a total of 200 files.
