HIBAPRESS
Egyptian actress Reham Abdel Ghafour commented on the circulation of photos and video clips of her that were described as inappropriate, which were published on social media during the special premiere of her new film "New Year's Map" a few days ago.
In a post she published on her official Facebook account, Abdel Ghafour expressed her displeasure with what happened, considering that the spread of smartphones equipped with cameras opened the door to offensive practices, targeting people with cheap motives, as she put it. In the same context, the Acting Professions Syndicate confirmed that it would not tolerate irresponsible pages that offend Egyptian artists or distort the image of Egyptian art, by taking photos or recording videos without permission and publishing them in an offensive manner or out of context. The head of the actors' syndicate, Ashraf Zaki, explained that the syndicate has actually started taking the necessary legal measures against those involved in these violations. Zaki pointed out that the incident that affected Reham Abdel Ghafour represents an unacceptable transgression and a direct insult to the status of Egyptian art, stressing that the syndicate will deal firmly with such behaviors. The syndicate stressed, in its statement, that freedom of the press does not mean infringing on the privacy of individuals or turning the digital space into a field of chaos, affirming its commitment to protecting the dignity of its members and defending their legal rights against any current or future abuse. This position came after some pages on social media circulated video clips of the artist Reham Abdel Ghafour while attending the special premiere of the film, which was held on Sunday evening in a cinema in the Sixth of October City in Giza Governorate, in a manner that was considered offensive. It is worth mentioning that the film "New Year's Map" deals with a touching human story, highlighting a young woman with Down syndrome, forced by harsh circumstances to face a shocking reality after the disappearance of her mother after the death of her father in mysterious circumstances. The heroine embarks on a difficult journey of search with her niece's son, seeking to uncover the truth and reunite the family, amid human tests and touching situations that reveal unexpected inner strength. The film is written by Youssef Wajdi and directed by Rami El-Gendy, and stars Reham Abdel Ghafour, Mohamed Mamdouh, Mostafa Abu Saree, Asmaa Abu El Yazid, Hanady Mehanna, as well as the child Aser.
