The Japanese Ambassador to Palestine, Araki Katsuhiko, announced a new support package that the Japanese government will provide to the State of Palestine, including direct financial support for the budget worth $10 million, within the supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2025.
The Palestinian News Agency reported on Monday that Katsuhiko confirmed, during his discussions in Ramallah with the Palestinian Minister of Finance and Planning, Istafan Salama, that in addition to this support, $30 million will be allocated to finance development projects and capacity-building programs, within a total support package of $167 million. The remaining amount will be directed to support humanitarian projects in various governorates, with a particular focus on the Gaza Strip. The agency added that this support comes within the framework of supporting the comprehensive plan for a ceasefire, enhancing the provision of humanitarian and relief services, and supporting early recovery and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip, in addition to strengthening efforts to build Palestinian state institutions. The Japanese package includes funding for a wide range of projects, including support for the general budget, and providing humanitarian aid in the health, water and sanitation, food security, and waste management sectors, as well as supporting early recovery programs, including the removal of debris.
