HIBAPRESS reported that thanks to its abundant natural resources, strategic location, future massive port on the Atlantic coast, and projects for green hydrogen production, the city of Dakhla today offers increasingly attractive opportunities for foreign investments.
The French economic and financial newspaper confirmed that the pearl of the south is seeking to become today "an economic center between Europe and Africa," highlighting the growing links between Rabat and Paris and the dynamics launched by the "enhanced exceptional partnership" between the two countries. The media outlet mentioned, in this context, that this dynamic was particularly embodied through the high-level meeting organized by the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises and the Movement of the Enterprises of France, at the beginning of October in Dakhla, through the France-Morocco Business Club. For the organizers and 40 contractors who came specifically from Paris, "the choice of Dakhla was certainly not accidental," the newspaper notes, adding that the city is part of a region that is benefiting today from an important public investment program, resulting in the creation of infrastructure, a highway, industrial complexes, logistic areas, and energy platforms. It recorded that the future capital of the Kingdom's south is also distinguished by its energy potential (solar and wind), also pointing to the future desalination plant that will be supplied with renewable energies. According to the article writer, "the geostrategic infrastructure that the region can already be proud of is definitely the Dakhla Atlantic port". The source explained that "this gigantic expected port infrastructure, designed to connect Morocco with Europe, West Africa, and the Americas, is linked to the Atlantic Royal Initiative which aims to enhance South-South cooperation, and in particular provide vital access to the sea for Sahel countries, such as Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Chad, where geographical isolation is a major obstacle to their economic growth". The newspaper "La Tribune" adds that the future port project falls within an integrated program for the region that aims to accomplish the port along with the infrastructure related to connection (a sea bridge and road), in addition to establishing a complex for industrial activities related to fishing, and developing a new industrial and logistical area adjacent to the port. The French media outlet also confirmed that the Dakhla Atlantic port is expected to form an important link in the Moroccan national strategy for green hydrogen, as it will allow the transfer of green hydrogen and its derivatives (such as green ammonia or green methanol) on a large scale towards international markets (especially Europe, which is accelerating the pace of decarbonization), adding that many clusters have already chosen Dakhla for their huge projects for green hydrogen or green ammonia.
