The Spanish authorities, with the beginning of January, have started implementing a new traffic decision that includes all road users, whether Spanish citizens or foreign drivers, including those coming from Morocco. This measure comes within the framework of a policy aimed at raising the level of road safety and reducing the risks of traffic accidents.
The new decision requires drivers to have a smart light warning device called V-16, to replace the traditional red triangle that was previously used for warning in the event of vehicle breakdown or an accident. This device is characterized by an orange flashing light, in addition to having a GPS system, which allows the precise location of the vehicle to be sent immediately to the relevant authorities via the DGT 3.0 platform, without the driver having to leave his car, which reduces the risks of exposure to additional accidents. The General Directorate of Traffic in Spain confirmed that non-compliance with this procedure will expose violators to a fine of up to 200 euros. It also stressed the need to purchase the V-16 device officially approved by the authorities, indicating that its price in the Spanish market does not exceed an average of 40 euros. It is expected that this procedure will contribute to improving the speed of intervention by emergency services and enhancing the safety of drivers, especially on highways and high-traffic axes.
