Rui Pedro, the sporting director of Al-Ahli club, apologized to Al-Nassr players Cristiano Ronaldo and Joao Felix against the backdrop of the controversial celebration following Al-Ahli's 3-2 victory over Al-Nassr in the Saudi Roshan League summit, which took place on Friday, in a scene that reflected the tension of the final minutes of the match.
This loss was the first defeat Al-Nassr has suffered this season, making them threatened with temporarily losing the lead, as they top the standings with 31 points from 12 matches, two points ahead of Al-Hilal, while Al-Ahli occupies fourth place with a total of 25 points.
During the celebration after the final whistle, Pedro passed in front of Ronaldo and Felix, along with goalkeeper Abdulrahman Al-Sanbi, while they were heading to leave the field, which led to tension after Felix tried to speak with him, before a number of players intervened to contain the situation.
Pedro expressed his apology through his Instagram account, confirming that he is publicly apologizing to the Portuguese players, who are professionals in the ranks of Al-Nassr, because of the misunderstanding that occurred after the end of the match, highlighting his great respect for them, and pointing out that his preoccupation with celebrating with his goalkeeper after what happened in the first half was the cause of what happened, denying that the act was the result of bad intentions, describing the matter as a moment of lapse and an unintentional mistake.
