Moroccan international Ayoub El Kaabi has become the focus of interest from Spanish club Girona during the current winter transfer window, as the team searches for offensive solutions capable of improving its results and overcoming the difficult situation it is experiencing at the bottom of the Spanish League table.
The Fitxajes website reported that Girona's management is placing the Olympiacos Greek striker on its list of priorities, against the backdrop of the offensive sterility that the team has been suffering this season, after scoring only 15 goals in 17 matches, which has made it threatened with entering relegation calculations.
The same source clarified that the strong performance that Ayoub El Kaabi gave with the Moroccan national team in the 2025 African Cup of Nations finals, especially during the group stage, brought his name back to the forefront within European football circles, and pushed clubs from La Liga to closely monitor his situation.
The report indicated that El Kaabi's contract with Olympiacos entering its final year, as it ends in June 2026, may facilitate Girona's mission in opening the door to negotiations, especially with the Greek club's desire to avoid the player's departure in the future without compensation.
The Moroccan striker's numbers support his chances of experiencing the Spanish League, after he played 61 international matches in which he scored 30 goals, in addition to scoring 15 goals and making two assists in 22 matches with Olympiacos this season in various competitions.
Ayoub El Kaabi currently tops the top scorer list of the African Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 with 3 goals, tied with Brahim Diaz and Riyad Mahrez, amid anticipation for possible European movements after the end of the tournament to sign the most prominent outstanding names.
