The technical teams of the Regional Multi-Service Company of Fez-Meknes initiated a field intervention to support the teams of the urban community of Fez, in order to clean the Ain Smen valley stream located in the territory of Zouagha district, following the noticeable increase in the flow rate that the valley witnessed in recent days.
This proactive intervention comes after the significant rainfall that the city witnessed, which caused a rise in water levels and the flow of large quantities of sludge and waste, which required the immediate mobilization of logistical and human resources to avoid any potential risks that may threaten environmental safety or the neighboring population. The cleaning operations included the removal of soil and waste accumulated on the banks of the valley and in its stream, while ensuring the smooth flow of water and reducing the blockage of the canals, within the framework of a tight coordination between the interests of the urban community and the Regional Multi-Service Company. Informed sources confirmed that these operations fall within a regular program of preventive interventions, which aims to maintain the cleanliness of the waterways and increase their readiness, especially during periods of climate fluctuations, in a way that is consistent with a proactive approach to managing flood risks and protecting the urban infrastructure. It is expected that these interventions will continue regularly, within the framework of joint efforts aimed at improving environmental safety conditions and enhancing the quality of services provided to citizens, which reflects the commitment of various stakeholders to securing the urban area and effectively responding to climate challenges.
