The Court of Appeal in Al Hoceima sentenced a young man to eight years in prison, with an order to pay civil compensation of 6 million centimes to the victim, following his involvement in a serious assault in the commune of Beni Bouayach in the Al Hoceima region.
The facts of the case go back to a simple dispute between the two parties over a sum of money not exceeding 170 dirhams, where the accused stated during the investigations that the victim informed him that he owed him this amount, which angered him and prompted him to assault him using a white weapon. According to the available data, the accused directed serious stabs at the victim, before the latter fell from a slope, causing him serious injuries that led to a permanent disability, which necessitated his urgent transfer to the regional hospital to receive the necessary treatment, and left permanent physical marks. After being prosecuted on charges of beating and wounding leading to permanent disability using a white weapon, and the accused confessed to what was attributed to him, the court sentenced him to the aforementioned penalty, in a ruling that highlights the seriousness of the acts committed, and confirms that simple disputes may end with heavy criminal consequences.
