The Nigerian Football Federation has resolved the bonus crisis for the players and officials of the "Super Eagles" participating in the 2025 African Cup of Nations, after transferring the financial dues directly to individual bank accounts via the Central Bank of Nigeria, putting an end to the controversy that accompanied the players' threats to boycott the competition.
An official from the federation confirmed, in statements نقلها صحافيون نيجيريون, that all bonuses have been processed completely by the Central Bank of Nigeria, indicating that the players and members of the technical staff will receive their full dues without any deductions as soon as the banking procedures are completed, and before the quarter-final match against Algeria.
Nigerian journalist Tobi Adebayo reported on Wednesday in a tweet posted on his "X" platform account, "I just spoke with a senior official in the Nigerian Football Federation regarding the possibility of a strike by the players and officials," adding that the federation official said, "The funds have been processed from the Central Bank of Nigeria to individual bank accounts."
The Nigerian national team players, according to the local newspaper "guardian", had threatened not to play the match due to the delay in paying victory bonuses achieved during the group stage and the round of 16, before the issue was resolved and calm was restored within the camp, with the group focusing on the continental event scheduled to be held in Marrakech.
