On Friday, January 9, 2026, at the headquarters of the Bouhouda commune, Abdelkrim El Ghannami, the Governor of Taounate, chaired a new communication meeting that brought together him and the elected officials of five local communities belonging to the Taounate district. These communities include Bouhouda, Ikhlalfa, Zrizer, Mezraoua, and Arghiwa, in the presence of local authorities and heads of decentralized services from a number of vital sectors.
This meeting witnessed the participation of representatives from the sectors of equipment, transportation and logistics, the multi-service company for water and electricity, health and social protection, national education, pre-school education and sports, agriculture, housing and urban policy, in addition to some heads of departments of the General Secretariat of the Prefecture. This meeting comes within the framework of continuing the program of communication meetings overseen by the Governor of the region across the various communes of the Taounate region, which number 49 local communities, with the aim of following up on local development issues and consolidating the foundations of participatory governance, in accordance with the high royal instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God grant him victory, related to the policy of proximity, attention to the issues of citizens, and the new concept of authority. During this meeting, which constituted an open space for exchanging views and perceptions regarding the management of local public affairs, the Governor of the region listened with great interest and deep attention to the interventions and requests of the local elected officials, enabling them to express their aspirations and concerns related to the development of their territorial areas. In this context, he emphasized the need to strengthen coordination between the various territorial stakeholders, adopt a clear working methodology based on cooperation and integration, and establish a transparent ground for defining priorities and future work programs that would improve the conditions of the local communities and advance the development process in the region. The meeting witnessed a positive interaction from the attendees, who praised this communication initiative, considering it an effective mechanism to enhance communication and bring the administration closer to the elected officials. They also submitted a set of requests and proposals that primarily concerned supporting infrastructure, strengthening basic equipment, and strengthening social sectors and proximity services, in a way that ensures the achievement of spatial justice between the various communities. For their part, the elected officials and heads of decentralized services expressed their full readiness to seriously and responsibly engage in implementing the working methodology and the development vision presented by the Governor of the region, in a way that serves the desired development take-off and responds to the aspirations of the region's population. At the conclusion of the work of this meeting, the Governor of Taounate stressed that the integrated territorial development programs, which are being prepared in implementation of the high royal instructions, constitute the ideal framework for studying the various requests submitted, and working in a participatory framework to find ways to achieve them. He also confirmed that the doors of his office, along with the various departments of the General Secretariat of the Prefecture and the decentralized services, will remain open to the heads of communes and elected officials, in a way that serves local development issues and enhances the service of the loyal subjects of His Majesty in this region.
