Walid Regragui, the coach of the Moroccan national team, expressed his great happiness at the Atlas Lions' qualification for the semi-finals of the 2025 African Cup of Nations after winning against Cameroon 2-0 on Friday evening. He emphasized in a message to the fans the need not to overdo the celebrations and to focus on the next match.
In his statements to CANAL+ SPORT Afrique, Regragui confirmed that his team did not play a perfect match, explaining: "In the second half, we gave Cameroon more confidence than we should have after a great physical effort in the first half, and there are still areas to work on in the coming period." He added: "But what matters is that we are in the semi-finals after 20 years since our last appearance at this stage of the tournament."
Regragui pointed out that the semi-final will be a big challenge, whether against Algeria or Nigeria, stressing that the team will continue to work with the same mentality that has characterized it over the past three years, despite some difficult matches and sometimes unfavorable luck. He expressed his great happiness with the players and the fans, especially for a generation of Moroccans who have not witnessed an African Cup semi-final before.
The Moroccan national team is awaiting the winner of the Nigeria vs. Algeria match in the semi-finals, while Senegal will look to the match between Egypt and Côte d'Ivoire to determine its next opponent in the semi-finals.
