HIBAPRESS – Fikri Ouldali
The main streets of Al Hoceima have recently seen a noticeable spread of stray dogs, in a scene that does not befit the image of a city that is supposed to be clean, safe, and welcoming to its residents and visitors. This situation has begun to arouse the displeasure of citizens, especially in vital spaces that witness heavy movement of pedestrians, children, and newcomers.
Despite the efforts made in the field of urban hygiene and improving the aesthetics of the city, the continued presence of stray dogs in the major streets raises more than a question mark about the ways of effective intervention to address this phenomenon. The matter is not only related to the aesthetic aspect, but extends to the fears associated with health safety and the possibility of recording accidents or the spread of diseases. In this context, a number of citizens are demanding the launch of an organized campaign to collect stray dogs, adopting a humanitarian approach that respects animal welfare standards, through coordination between the territorial community, veterinary interests, and the competent authorities. They also call for the adoption of sustainable solutions, such as sheltering or sterilizing these animals, instead of leaving them to breed in the streets. Preserving the cleanliness and prestige of the city is a collective responsibility, and the urgent and organized intervention of the concerned authorities will restore tranquility to the population and enhance the image of the city as a clean and safe urban space that is befitting for everyone.
