HIBAPRESS – Rabat
The Minister of Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, said on Tuesday in the House of Councillors that the ministry intends to organize an intensive and extensive media and communication campaign that includes all media and communication channels, with the aim of urging and sensitizing the largest number of unregistered people, especially young people, to register on the electoral lists.
The Minister explained, in response to oral questions within the framework of a unified topic on "Registration on the electoral lists", that this communication campaign will start during the days prior to the commencement of submitting registration requests, to extend throughout the period allocated for submitting the mentioned requests. He stressed that this process has a special national character, "where we all expect it to rise to the challenge of achieving a significant increase in the number of those registered on the general electoral lists, with a view to strengthening participation in the election". Mr. Laftit affirmed that this process requires, in addition to mobilizing the administration, the concerted efforts of all other relevant actors, especially political parties, both at the level of their central structures and at the level of their branches in the regions, provinces and groups, as well as continuous and motivating follow-up from the media and communication from the public and private sectors, in addition to the involvement of civil society.
