HIBAPRESS – Omar Razzini (Barcelona Office)
The protests carried out by Spanish farmers continue to disrupt traffic at the Irun border crossing between Spain and France, especially on the AP-8 highway, for Thursday, amid continued tension and traffic congestion in the area.
Local sources reported that the protesters partially closed the main road axis, causing long queues of trucks and private vehicles, and directly affecting the movement of commercial transport and travelers between the two countries.
Through these protest movements, the farmers are demanding the improvement of their economic conditions, the defense of their local products in the face of foreign competition, in addition to demanding more supportive government measures for the agricultural sector.
For its part, the authorities have called on drivers to exercise caution and use alternative routes as much as possible, pending a resolution of the situation and the return of traffic to normal on this vital crossing that connects the Iberian Peninsula with Europe.
