Morocco and the United Kingdom renewed, today, Friday in Berlin, their joint will to enhance cooperation in the agricultural field. This occurred during a bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the International Green Week, held from January 16 to 25 in the German capital.
This meeting brought together the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Ahmed Elbouari, and the Minister of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs of the United Kingdom, Angela Eagle, who expressed her country's ambition to strengthen cooperation ties with Morocco. The discussions focused on the prospects for cooperation in agricultural, food, and rural fields, with a special focus on food security, the sustainable management of water resources, and adaptation to climate change. Within the framework of the enhanced strategic partnership between the two countries, this meeting also allowed for the identification of common priorities, especially in the areas of research, the exchange of best practices, as well as education and training. The bilateral cooperation in the water sector in Morocco was also discussed, especially projects related to wastewater treatment and seawater desalination, in addition to promoting access for British exports of agricultural, food, and beverage products to the Moroccan market. On the occasion of its eleventh consecutive participation in this event, which is one of the largest international exhibitions dedicated to agriculture and food, Morocco is represented by an important delegation led by Mr. Elbouari, and includes institutional officials and professionals in the agricultural sector. The Moroccan participation, which is organized under the slogan of excellence, is part of highlighting the quality and value of local products, which meet the highest international standards in terms of quality, health safety, and traceability, while highlighting the continuous efforts made by Moroccan cooperatives. The International Green Week in Berlin, which was established in 1926, is one of the oldest international exhibitions dedicated to agriculture and food. The 2026 session will be held under the slogan “100 Years of Green Week: Where History Meets the Future”.
