HIBAPRESS – Essaouira
The authorities of the city of Essaouira, led by the governor and the Pasha, have removed the "Fan Zone" decor that was prepared in conjunction with the national atmosphere that Moroccans are experiencing today, coinciding with the screening of the Moroccan national team match.
According to local sources, this step included the removal of various equipment and decorations that reflected the atmosphere of collective celebration associated with national football events, at a time when a number of Moroccan cities are organizing spaces dedicated to collective cheering and creating a popular outlet for citizens.

The "Fan Zone" is considered, for a large number of Essaouira citizens, especially the simple groups who do not have the financial means to access cafes or private spaces, the only outlet to watch the national team matches in a collective atmosphere that enhances the sense of belonging and shared joy. However, this outlet, according to a number of observers, was denied this time by an administrative decision that increased the cold atmosphere of the celebrations in the city.
With this decision, it is expected that the atmosphere of watching the match in the city of Essaouira will pass in a normal and calm manner, lacking the popular enthusiasm that characterizes such occasions, which makes the celebration of the national team less intense compared to other Moroccan cities.
Observers of local affairs believe that the authorities of the city of Essaouira have, on more than one occasion, adopted choices that raise controversy, and contribute – according to their expression – to presenting a dim picture of the city, instead of investing such national moments in enhancing its cultural and social radiance.
Pending official clarifications from the relevant authorities, the city of Essaouira remains once again outside the general celebratory scene, with a different authoritative choice that does not enjoy the consensus of the population.
