The Royal Moroccan Football Federation announced that it will resort to legal procedures before the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the International Federation of Football (FIFA) to consider the withdrawal of the Senegalese national team from the final match of the African Cup of Nations.
The Federation explained that this withdrawal and the events that accompanied it after the referee's assessment of a correct penalty kick, which experts agreed upon, had a significant impact on the normal course of the match and the players' performance. The Federation also expressed its sincere thanks to the Moroccan fans for their large attendance and ideal encouragement throughout the tournament, stressing its appreciation for all those who contributed to the success of this continental event, including organizational and media teams and partners, which made the tournament an exceptional experience for African football. The Federation indicated that it will follow all the necessary legal procedures to ensure justice and protect the rights of the Moroccan national team. It is worth noting that the Senegalese national team had withdrawn from the final match of the African Cup of Nations for a few minutes after the Moroccan team received a penalty kick, noting that the match ended in extra time with Morocco losing one goal to nil.
