HIBAPRESS
On Friday, the Moroccan crane "VB Spartel" began the towing operation of the oil tanker "Chariot Tide," linked to what is known as the Russian "shadow fleet," after it had been adrift and without a captain for 27 hours off the coast of Tangier, within the scope of Moroccan maritime navigation monitoring.
In parallel, Spain put the rescue ship "Luz de Mar" on alert north of the separation lane in the Strait of Gibraltar, in anticipation of any emergency or potential marine pollution hazard, according to the newspaper Europasur. The tanker, which is 195 meters long and carries more than 425,000 barrels of Russian oil derivatives, is one of the ships listed under European and British sanctions. Experts describe it as a "ghost tanker" with high environmental risks, especially after remaining for long hours in the heart of the navigation lane without intervention, in a situation that violates international maritime safety regulations.
